MOST COMMON QUESTIONS

A field trip to The Buried Book of Oz is suitable for students in Grades 3-12.

Each school tour lasts about 2 hours and is made up of three main experiences:
  • FUN – Students will get an introduction to the show, including the opportunity to walk, climb, crawl and slide through some of our amazing sets.
  • INSPIRATION – We want students to leave with a sense of creative empowerment, so we will share examples of our problem solving process…which always starts with brainstorming and cardboard.
  • CREATION – Students will be invited to make a piece of art in the style of the show. They are welcome to take these pieces home as a keepsake, or they can choose to donate them to our “forest” so that their creation becomes a part of the show. Groups of older students may choose to engage in a problem-solving challenge instead of making an art piece.

Each tour can be tailored to a particular group. So, for example, you may wish for your high school art students to spend time hearing from our artists and having the opportunity to ask questions. We are happy to work with you to design the best field trip for your group.

We can take up to 120 students plus the required number of adult chaperones at one time. Students will be divided into groups of 40 or fewer. Each group will be led by a member of our team.

We are currently booking tours September 27, 2024 through December 19, 2024.

Students and chaperones who attend a tour in September/October 2024 will receive a coupon for a discounted ticket to a performance of the show!

Yes! There is no additional charge for adult chaperones. Adult chaperones are required at a ratio of 1:8 for 3rd/4th grades, and 1:10 for 5th-12th grades.

Adult chaperones are integral to the success of the tour. We ask that each chaperone be assigned a group of students (1:8 for 3rd/4th and 1:10 for 5th-12th). Each adult will stay with their group of students throughout the tour and help out in a variety of ways, including managing movement through sets and supporting students as they create an art piece.
